Get in the holiday spirit with a Christmas party. Before your deck the halls and send out the invitations, narrow down the theme. You have a plethora of options: tropical Christmas, Winter Wonderland, Santa’s workshop, Christmas Candyland, etc. Work parties, however, may be somewhat limited, so stick to the favorites: Santa, a Christmas tree, lights, mistletoe, and wreaths. For a family gathering, host a tree trimming party. Together the family can put a star or an angel on atop the tree, hang ornaments, wrap lights around the tree, and place gifts at its base.
Select activities that draw out the spirit of the holidays in guests, whether it’s caroling, dancing, sipping egg nog and telling the Christmas story. There are also countless movies to watch, including A Christmas Story, Miracle on 34th Street, or How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Santa himself can make a guest appearance at the party, just check out a local party or costume shop for the right costumes. He may also be accompanied by Mrs. Claus, elves and reindeer.
Fill up on Christmas favorites, which can very from home to home. Some like to devour turkey with stuffing and cranberry sauce, others prefer ham, while others crave the sweet stuff such as gingerbread cookies, fruitcake, sugar cookies, pumpkin pie and candy canes. Other filling holiday meals: posole, biscochitos and tamales.
